LongTail Video Changes Name; Company Is Now JW Player
LongTail Video is no more, at least by that name. The company best known for creating the JW Player is now named JW Player. Sure, it sounds a little awkward being named after a product, but the industry will get used to it.
JW Player (the product, not the company) streams video on two million sites, notes JW Player (the company, not the product).
Now renamed and rebranded, the company will focus on three areas for future development.
- Mobile Video: Look for the company to release Android and iOS software development kits (SDKs) in the coming year, to be used in native app creation with the player. The company notes that its player delivered solutions for HLS and VAST HTML5 advertising in the past year.
- Video Ads: Look for greater support for industry ad standards, including VAST3, sometime this quarter. The player was recently updated to offer more ad options for live events.
- Video Management: The company will deliver advanced analytics, content syndication, and ad mediation in the coming months. The player currently integrates with WordPress, YouTube, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and more.
