MediaPlatform's Webcasting Platform Gets Pay-Per-View Option

MediaPlatform, a webcasting and media management company, has added three important features to its WebCaster platform: pay-per-view, closed captioning, and both private and public messaging.

The pay-per-view feature is meant to help out learning institutions by letting them create online courses for far-flung students. Payments are made through PayPal.

To provide captioning, MediaPlatform has partnered with Caption IT. Captions are available for both live and on-demand content. Caption IT uses certified captioners in all time zones so that they can handle any live events.

"Many government regulations require closed captioning to meet the needs of millions of Americans with varying levels of hearing impairment," said Maureen DeRuyter, chief executive officer, Caption IT.

Another partnership, this time with Chatroll, provides the public and private messaging.

"Different industries demand different features when producing webcasting events, and MediaPlatform strives to meet all of their requirements in an easy-to-use, brandable, and scalable platform," says Greg Pulier, president of MediaPlatform.

"Associations and learning institutions, for example, all need pay-per-view functionality to monetize their individual courses; government organizations and associations require closed captioning for the hearing impaired; and the increase in social media and demand for more engaging webcast experiences has made private chat within webcasts a ‘must-have' for almost everyone," Pulier adds.
