Microsoft Announces Quarterly Results
Microsoft announced revenue of $5.66 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2000. Net income and diluted earnings per share were $2.39 billion and $0.43
During the quarter, Microsoft released Windows 2000. "We already have exceeded 1.5 million Windows 2000 shipments since the launch, and feedback from customers has been incredible," said Jim Allchin, group vice president, Platforms Group, at Microsoft.
It also released a beta of its Windows Media 7 streaming media system that is compatible with Windows 2000.
The beta preview also included a new consumer-oriented player that has a pretty user interface with support for "skins" and visualization add-ons.
Final version of the WMT 7 will be released later this year.
