Multimedia Research Group Adds Rankings to IPTV Market Report

Charting the growth of the IPTV industry, Multimedia Research Group (MRG) has released its latest IPTV Market Leaders Report. New to this release is MRG's RankTracker system, which monitors over 100 IPTV vendors with 40 million active subscribers. RankTracker shows upward or downward movement in each product segment.

"RankTracker allows vendors to easily track their own regional and global rankings every six months," says Jose Alvear, senior IPTV analyst at MRG. "For example, Alcatel-Lucent not only leads in Access, but can also track its new gains in global ranks in VOD and Middleware."

RankTracker also monitors set-top box and middleware vendors, charting the number of operator customers they have in five customer tiers based on the number of subscribers.

"With tiered breakdowns, you get much better accuracy on which vendors are working with smaller service providers, who often have different needs than large telcos," says Alvear. "One of the most interesting findings is that some top smaller vendors may be ranked low globally, but may actually have hundreds of smaller customers which beats even some of the large global IPTV Vendors."

The Market Leaders Report ranks ITPV vendors in 24 geographic sectors. Over 900 operators are included, many of which are in the start-up phase.

The 126-page report costs $3,995 for a printed copy for $5,200 for a PDF version and a departmental license. It's free, however, to subscribers of the IPTV Tracking Service.
