Next New Networks Partners with AOL for Web Series

Online network Next New Networks is partnering with AOL to launch an original daily video series called The One. The show features two-minute long commentaries from online personalities, such as comedian and author Baratunde Thurston, Politics.com White House correspondent Alexandra Wagner, and the Gregory Brothers of Auto-Tune the News. New episodes will post at 1PM ET each weekday.

The series is part of AOL's effort to relaunch itself and focus on online video. AOL already has one original Web series, You've Got, which has offered commentary from Kelly Ripa, Ellen DeGeneres, President Barack Obama, Governor Mike Huckabee, and Elmo.

The show is being directed by Kathleen Grace, a vice president at NNN. Grace produced and created the show with Timothy Shey, the network's co-founder. As part of the deal, AOL will feature other original shows from the network, such as The Key of Awesome, Auto-Tune the News, Working Class Foodies, and Backyard FX.

The move highlights the importance of exclusive video for online destinations. It also shows that Next New Networks is growing its role as a production house for other companies.

"Video is a fundamental part of the online experience for AOL's media savvy audience and we are delighted to partner with Next New Networks, whose creativity and innovation in made-for-Web video make them a leader in this space," says David Eun, president of AOL Media and Studios.
