Optibase ships MGW 4000 Media Gateway
Optibase, a provider of broadband media streaming solutions, is to begin shipping its MGW 4000 Media Gateway for technical trials of its MPEG-4 technology. MPEG-4 is intended to allow for high quality video distribution at reduced bit rates – widening the target market for streaming products.
Evaluators are to include network equipment vendors, telecom operators and service providers. The MGW 4000 hardware is an implementation of MPEG-4 (WMT) video and audio encoding, and also provides real-time uploads to Microsoft’s Windows Media Server. Multi channel support allows for real-time encoding and transmission of multiple live MPEG-4 streams, at bit rates ranging from 250Kbps-1.5Mbps, according to the company.
The MGW 4000 uses MPEG-4 algorithms developed by Optibase’s advanced technology group, based on silicon provided by Optibase’s partner.
Israel-based Optibase Ltd offers technology products in the areas of video-on-demand, real-time video streaming, digital video archiving, distance learning, and business TV. The company has offices in UK, France, Japan and China.
