Pro Coaches Get Instant Video Review with MyplayXplay App

An innovative hardware/software solution that launches today offers instant video review and analysis to coaches and other sideline game personnel. Called MyplayXplay (My play-by-play), the platform can capture live video from any source -- such as a broadcast feed or a consumer camera -- and stream it to an iPad app. A coach can then review the video, tag it, and add comments. Users can also email videos, upload them to a Dropbox account, save them, or post them to Facebook.

The company (also called MyplayXplay) is pitching this as an alternative to hardwired desk-based systems currently used in stadiums. Highlighting the product's ease-of-use, the company says MyplayXplay is completely intuitive, unlike hardwired systems that can only be used by trained technicians. The product also offers instant video review, compared to hardwired systems that need hours to turnaround clips.

The required hardware (also called MyplayXplay) starts at $7,500, and includes an application called Live2Bench that wirelessly streams video to tablets. The hardware comes pre-configured. The company offers online or onsite training, and says that teams can easily make changes (to their rosters, for example, or to the teams they play) by themselves.

While the product is launching today, the app has been available in the iTunes Store for months. That's because MyplayXplay has been in beta testing with leagues such as the NHL in America and the Irish Rugby Football Union in Europe. Calling MyplayXplay "a leap in video technology," David Manning, assistant athletic director for St. Andrew's College in Ontario, Canada, praised it as "quite possibly the most innovative piece of software and video workflow to come to hockey and team sports for a very long time."

“MyplayXplay allows me to compile exactly the clips I want for halftime review with a few simple touches on the iPad. The video quality is exceptional,” states  John Plumtree, forwards coach for the Ireland Rugby Team.

Coaches with Irish Rugby beta tested MyplayXplay in Dublin, Ireland's Aviva Stadium.
