Qwest to Provide Hosting Services to Microcast

Broadband provider Qwest Communications International has been awarded a three-year, $12 million contract to provide advanced hostingservices to streaming service provider Microcast.

The agreement calls for Microcast's video streaming solutions to be hosted in Qwest's U.S. CyberCenters. Qwest also will provide Microcast with gigabit Internet connections to all of its hosting equipment in each CyberCenter.

The delivery platform combines large-scale distribution capabilities with individual targeting logic distributed across the network for both live and archived streams.

"The high-capacity bandwidth made possible by Qwest's broadband Internet network ensures that Microcast customers can provide superior streaming video quality over the Web," said Steve Jacobsen, executive vice president of business markets for Qwest.
