Reuters To Use Virage’s Video Search
Virage Inc. (www.virage.com), a streaming video software provider, today announced that global news organization Reuters will be using the latest version Virage's Desktop Library.
The Desktop Library includes an application that provides Reuters' customers the ability to search for video footage through thumbnail clips. With built-in video indexing and search technology, customers can more easily manage video footage, says Virage.
"By incorporating Virage's applications, we are able to ensure that broadcasters have a more user-friendly experience when accessing and deploying video material," said Anthony Allday, product manager at Reuters, in a statement.
Reuters currently supplies a video library of 80 hours of video footage to 70 news organizations worldwide. Before the inclusion of thumbnail clips into the library, Reuters' customers had to rely on plain text descriptions of the footage.
Virage has previously announced agreements in providing video-enabling software to The Associated Press and the European Broadcast Union.
