Riffage.com Acquires Rights to 1500 Records

Riffage.com (http://www.riffage.com) today announced that it has acquired music label 1500 Records, formerly part of A&M Records under the Interscope/Universal banner.

The Riffage.com acquisition of 1500 Records represents an example of a new music label business model. The model is designed to combine a more progressive attitude with a marketing blitz. The artists will be granted a higher percentage of the profits on album sales, as they are considered "partners", and the advantages of the internet will be exploited to provide more effective marketing and promotion, such as direct marketing of new music releases and concert tickets sales to Riffage.com's 300,000 plus registered music fans.

Quantitative data obtained from Riffage.com will allow 1500 Records to develop customized marketing programs for each of its artists, including identification of key target markets for touring, street team activity and radio airplay. 1500 Record Artists will continue to receive the services typically provided by traditional record labels.

1500 Records presently carries two bands under its label - God Lives Underwater and Ugly Duckling.

"1500 Records and Riffage.com share a common vision of creating a new record industry paradigm that maintains the key marketing services used by the traditional labels, but leverages the powerful artist/fan interaction made possible by the Internet to deliver a more progressive and effective marketing campaign for the artist and a more cost-effective business for the label," said Gary Richards, president of 1500 Records.

Riffage.com is an online music destination that connects artists and fans on the basis of personal musical taste.
