Sharethrough Raises $5M in Series A Funding
Social video advertising company Sharethrough has secured $5 million in a Series A equity financing round let by North Bridge Venture Partners and Floodgate. Prior to this, Sharethrough has received investments from industry veteran Ron Conway, angel investor Ron Bouganim, customer development guru Steve Blank, and Auren Hoffman, CEO of Rapleaf. Additionally, Cali Tran, principal of North Bridge Venture Partners, is joining Sharethrough's board of directors.
"The demand for social video advertising is growing tremendously, and as the leader in this emerging area, Sharethrough will help shape the way we understand and measure the impact of branded video content," said Tran.
Sharepoint's video network offers an alternative to traditional networks that focus on views, or PR campaigns that don't always succeed in driving interest. Sharethrough's platform guarantees views though its social video ad units. Shared video gains three times more view time than video delivered through paid media, the company notes.
The San Francisco-based company has already led more than 200 campaigns for an assortment of major brands including Sony, Xbox, GM, Activision, Nextel, and Lego.
"We've shown time and again that shared video views are superior to traditional views because they fuel a much higher level of engagement with the content and the brand," said Dan Greenberg, co-founder and CEO of Sharethrough.
