Shockwave.com Launches Japan Site

Shockwave.com this week announced the launching of its entertainment destination site in Japan (http://www.jp.shockwave.com) - to include localized games, animations, music, and greeting cards.

In addition, the company announced the formation of a Japanese joint venture company, shockwave.com KK, between Transcosmos and Fuji Bank, with Shockwave.com Inc. as the majority shareholder.

‘The launch of shockwave.com KK is our first international launch and a milestone in the Shockwave.com strategy to bring customers high quality, rich media entertainment to the PC and wireless webs," said Lawrence Levy, president and CEO of Shockwave.com.

The Japan launch comes just a week after Shockwave.com announced the layoffs of 20 employees, as a result of new management coming on board and reassessing the size of the company.
