SnapStream Launches Cloud DVR for Easy Enterprise Access
SnapStream has a major new product to show at NAB this year. The company is known for its media recording and monitoring tools, and now its services are headed to the cloud. With SnapStream Cloud, companies can record television channels to an online DVR which is accessible by workers in different areas.
Companies will need to provide their own TV feeds for SnapStream Cloud (as with the company's physical products), but can upload feeds from different geographical areas to a single library. Feeds are first sent to an H.264 encoder on-premises, then uploaded to the online account. Subscribers are free to set scheduled recordings and manage their stored content. They can watch live programs, play stored shows, search through recordings, and set alerts. The user interface shows all TV channel lineups in a single program guide.
The starter account goes for $300 per month for a four-channel tuner.
At NAB, SnapStream will also demonstrate its new Social TV abilities, which let subscribers create GIFs, clips, memes, and screen shots from live programming, then share those creations on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Social TV automatically displays a live Twitter stream for whatever show the subscriber is currently watching, giving a real-time look at viewer reactions.
