Sonic Foundry Announces New Surveillance Software

Sonic Foundry (www.sonicfoundry.com), a provider of software and systems, announced the release of enterprise-class software designed to help government organizations with surveillance and security.

Built upon technologies recently acquired by Sonic Foundry, the software, known as Unified Security View (USV), offers an integrated framework to capture, analyze, access and manage all media types, biometric information and database. The core technologies derive from Sonic Foundry’s capture and processing technologies and the integration of MediaSite’s proprietary indexing and analysis engine.

"Sonic Foundry has always been at the forefront for media capture and processing," said Rimas Buinevicius, CEO of Sonic Foundry, in a statement. "Our recent acquisition of MediaSite, enables the combined entity to address the complete needs of organizations requiring cost effective and reliable security and surveillance applications. The rising concerns over security, and the need to consolidate disparate information into one common view is helping to drive demand."

According to Sonic Foundry, the USV software uses an aggregation of facial, positional, voiceprint and related biometric data to create a unified, time-based individual profile. USV profiles are updated over time, allowing security personnel to cross-compare physical characteristics chronologically and across multiple identification databases.

The announcement was made this week at the Government Video Technology Expo in Washington, D.C.
