Sontora Offering Audio-Streaming Beta-Trials

Sontora says they are started audio streaming trials for WAP content producers for its MobiCast (http://www.mobicast.com) system.

Mobicast was developed to further integrate WAP end-users and content providers. It can pull audio feeds from a RealServer; Windows Media; or a streaming MP3 server, and deliver it in real-time to the mobile handset.

It is accomplished without special handset adaptations and operates on second-generation phones already available, like Ericsson and Nokia (WAP 1.1 compliant and above).

"We are committed to providing integrated technology for the future of the Mobile Internet," Kieren Feakes, CEO of Sontora, says.

"MobiCast makes it possible for content providers to deliver versatile, high-quality audio streaming to the digital mobile networks of today," says Feakes. "This is not a robotic sounding text-to-speech service either; this is broadcast quality voice, and we can stream music as well. I'm incredibly excited by the possibilities."
