SpotLife Secures $25 Million in 3rd Round Funding
Just when you thought the VC money had dried up, SpotLife comes along.
The company announced it completed its third round of financing, nabbing $25 million. The round was led by Aventic Partners, and includes current investors CMGI @Ventures, Atlas Venture, and Logitech.
Spotlife (http://www.spotlife.com) is one of the many personal broadcasting sites launched recently. It was incubated by its parent company Logitech, which is a maker of webcams.
The company says this it has over 70,000 registered users since it launched in May.
"This latest round of funding illustrates the confidence surrounding thefuture of personal broadcasting and our dominance within this growingcategory," said Amit Goswamy, President and CEO of SpotLife. "It allows usto continue building the infrastructure and partnerships that are necessaryto bring personal video broadcasting into everyday life and literally changethe way people communicate."
Of particular interest in the financing round is CMGI's venture company, which has itself incubated many firms and is solidly in the streaming media sector.
"As personal broadcasting becomes mainstream, SpotLife is the one to watch," said Jon Callaghan, Managing Partner of CMGI @ventures.
Recently, even Sony has gotten into the personal broadcasting space, launching ImageStation.
