Sundance Comes to YouTube; Tim and Eric Premiere Online

While not many of us could travel to Park City, Utah, for the annual Sundance Film Festival, YouTube is putting a little of the Sundance spirit online. The video sharing giant has teamed with the Sundance Film Institute to stream a collection of twelve festival titles. The titles rent for $2.99 or $3.99, and can be watched for 48 hours after payment.

Sundance titles available include Obselidia (which won the Independent Spirit Award), Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade, Lord Byron, and What Happened Was (the 1994 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Award winner).

One of the must buzzed about films this year is Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie, the big screen debut for the surreal comedy kings. YouTube will premiere the film today at the same time that it's shown in Park City. B$M (as it's abbreviated) stars Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, and John C. Reilly. A 48-hour rental is $9.99 for standard definition and $10.99 for high definition.

This is the last weekend of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

Earlier this week, YouTube announced that it now receives 60 hours of uploaded video every minute, and that viewers watch over 4 billion YouTube videos each day.
