Telestream Announces Wirecast 7 With GPU-Accelerated Encoding
InfoComm attendees can get a first look at Telestream Wirecast 7, which was announced yesterday and will be available later this month. The marquee upgrades include GPU-accelerated encoding and a redesigned user interface. It's on display in the PTZ Optics and Magewell booths.
Wirecast is Telestream's live streaming production platform, and it offeres video encoding and multi-platform distribution. Version 7 emphasizes faster performance with GPU-accelerated encoding that puts less demand on the CPU. Improved system usage delivers faster streams, Telestream says, while added graphical output statistics let users monitor CPU and memory demands and stats for the output stream.
The user interface has been redesigned to offer quick access to editing tools for on-the-fly edits. The new Shot Editor panel delivers fast access to video and audio layers, while the audio mixer provides central controls for all audio sources. Users can also create hotkeys to simplify repetitive tasks.
The Pro version of Wirecast 7 includes the option to save original clean source recordings—without any added overlays—for repurposing and re-editing.
“With the release of Version 7, our goal is to empower users to do more live than ever before, to allow them to set a new bar in creating/directing a live streamed event, and we feel we’ve done precisely that," says Tom Prehn, senior product manager at Telestream.
Wirecast Studio lists for $495 and Pro for $995, with upgrade pricing starting at $179.
