Telestream Releases Vantage 6.3, Expands Formats for Multiscreen

Transcoding company Telestream announced an update to its Vantage platform today with Vantage 6.3. This update add support for more transcoding formats, which is aimed at making multiscreen and multi-device support easier. It also includes new tools for automating production.

A prime driver in this release is helping content owners build multi-platform distribution architectures by supporting more formats in the Vantage Transcode platform. Vantage Transcode Multiscreen and Vantage Transcode IPTV VOD now include full 4K support and HEVC encoding. Vantage Transcode Pro includes XAVC decoding and ProRes 4444 encoding.

Telestream Post Producer, an application that runs on the Vantage platform, now includes tools to make automated content production easier. Editors using Avid, Adobe, and Final Cut Pro can create production templates in Vantage 6.3. Post Producer can then use those templates to automatically produce hundreds of custom video outputs. Telestream emphasizes that creating templates is easier and editors can see how a template will look before they render it.

One new feature lets Vantage accept work orders from spreadsheets. If Vantage owners already organize their metadata and instructions in a CSV spreadsheet, they can now send those instructions directly to Vantage. One work order can hold the instructions for hundreds of jobs, Telestream says.

Other new features include better dashboard metrics and a SQL deployment tool for better database support.
