Telestream Releases Wirecast 4

Telestream has ungraded its webcasting production software, Wirecast 4, and it now comes in two versions. Wirecast is a lower-priced alternative to hardware broadcasting products for companies streaming to the Web. Version 4 introduces a redesigned and more intuitive user interface, integrated support for Blackmagic capture cards, and improved Main Concept H.264 and On2 VP6 Flash video formats.

The new Pro version adds more rich graphic content, including 3D virtual sets and scoreboards. It also includes IP and HDV camera support, as well as support for Telestream's Pipeline video capture system.

Both version's redesigned user interface includes an enhanced shot editor, user-definable layers, a source-settings editor. Telestream has refreshed the title templates (lower-thirds) and added support for Blackmagic Intensity Pro, Decklink SDI and Decklink Duo capture cards.

Wirecast now includes destination support for Brightcove and Sermon.net. The HDV and IP camera support includes enhanced audio controls with sync delay as a standard feature.

"With Wirecast, anyone can create powerful live webcasts and stream them to audiences on the Web," says Barbara DeHart, vice president of marketing at Telestream. "All that is needed is a camera, a laptop, and Wirecast to make affordable production and streaming a reality."

Existing customers can get Wirecast 4 as a free update, and can upgrade to Wirecast Pro for $546. Full versions cost $449 for the standard and $995 for the Pro. New users can download a trial version before they buy.
