TheThreshold.com Acquires Online Rights to Hellraiser
TheThreshold.com (www.thethreshold.com), an entertainment network for branded entertainment, announced its acquisition of the online game rights to the "Hellraiser'' franchise, originally created by author Clive Barker.
Threshold Entertainment, based in Santa Monica, Calif. is creating a Hellraiser online game in-house. The company has been responsible for the development of previous branded games, such as Mortal Kombat Federation of Martial Artists, a multiplayer game found at Thethreshold.com. A spokesperson for TheThreshold indicated that it would be developing several mini games under the Hellraiser brand to acquire user feedback before attempting to develop anything on the scale of a multiplayer game. TheThreshold currently offers its content to users for free, but is looking to adopt a pay-for-play or subscription model in the future.
TheThreshold targets men ages 12-35, with entertainment based on such entertainment properties including: "Mortal Kombat,'' "Duke Nukem,'' "Heavy Metal,'' "Conan'' and "Red Sonja.'' The network also includes original animation and live action shows such as "Bikini Masterpiece Theatre." Threshold Entertainment, the parent company of TheThreshold, has management's credits including "Dracula,'' "The Abyss,'' "Terminator 2,'' "Mortal Kombat,'' "True Lies,'' "The Last Action Hero,'' "The Shadow,'' and "Babylon 5."
