Ustream Debuts Ustream Align, Secure Internal Live Video Platform
Live video streamer Ustream is headed inside the enterprise with its newest release, Ustream Align. A platform for live video, Align is perfect for distributing all-hands meetings, shareholder meetings, accreditation training, and executive talks, says Ustream.
With corporate hacking stories regularly in the news nowadays, Ustream is emphasizing the security of the Align platform. Companies can go with passwords for simple security, or choose more advanced two-step authentication. They can also use IP filtering and geo-blocking to prevent viewing by unauthorized users.
Ustream Align video is high-definition and accessible from mobile devices. Align is built on the same platform that Ustream has created for its consumer-facing live video site. Videos can be branded and shown in a secure enterprise portal or embedded on a corporate intranet.
“More than 50 percent of our customers were already adapting our existing platform for internal communications,” says David Gibbons, vice president of marketing for Ustream. “With corporate security continuing to increase in importance—and the recent attack on Sony is a prime example—our customers were requesting enhanced security functionality to protect their internal communications.”
For regular StreamingMedia.com readers, this news isn't a huge surprise. In a January 2014 interview, CEO Brad Hunstable called enterprise video "one of the last blue oceans," and said Ustream was shifting away from free services and toward a software-as-a-service model for enterprise customers.
