Ustream Report: Live Video Growing for Business Communications

Article Featured Image

Is live video useful as a business communications tool? A report released today from live video specialist Ustream says yes. Using survey results gathered this quarter by Wainhouse Research, Ustream says 78 percent of the 1,007 executives questioned describe online video as either very or somewhat effective for business communications. Those who actively use video as part of their day-to-day business were even more positive. Additionally, 72 percent of those surveyed say they prefer live to on-demand video when it comes to business communications. Ustream notes that companies are adapting live video to enhance business communications systems they already have in place.

Ustream found a difference in perception between those who actively use live video communications and those who don't when it comes to price. Executives who don't currently use live video see price and return on investment as key factors for a purchase decision, while those who have experience with live video do not. The report notes that cost and technical complexity are typically held up as barriers to adoption, and counsels executives who hope to create a live video system on how to counter those arguments. Those surveyed indicated that live online video is now more reliable that it was previously.
