Vimeo Funds First Original Programming, Series 'High Maintenance'
Online video site Vimeo has announced its first online video financing project. Vimeo will fund six new episodes of the online series "High Maintenance," which will be sold exclusively on Vimeo On Demand.
"High Maintenance" is a comedy that follows the journeys of a New York City weed delivery man as he bikes from one client to another. The series includes 13 episodes so far, produced by Janky Clown Productions, all of which are available for free on Vimeo. "High Maintenance" was created by the husband and wife team of Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair (who plays the delivery man).
This financing is part of Vimeo's effort to bring more original programming to Vimeo On Demand. Earlier this year, Vimeo announced that it would invest $10 million in licensing content for distribution.
New episodes of "High Maintenance" will debut sometime later this year. The creators have not yet determined the pricing. Vimeo PR couldn't say if the episodes would be offered as a package or individually, and wouldn't comment on the size of Vimeo's investment in the project.
“We’re all huge fans of "High Maintenance" and couldn’t be happier to make our first original programming investment in a show that’s developed organically on Vimeo,” says Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor.
