Are adults warming up to mobile video search?

Vuclip, a mobile video service that delivers over 16 million videos internationally each day, publishes a monthly list of the top ten mobile video searches it receives. The results for October are in and something surprising happened. Typically, the list is comprised entirely of pop names and movies, suggesting that pre-teens and teens are doing the most video searching on mobile devices. But in October two names from the news -- Steve Jobs and Muammar Gaddafi -- made the list, suggesting that adults are now also searching for clips on-the-go.

Certainly the list is still dominated by pop culture. WWE was the top search, a rare male-oriented topic on the list. Linsday Lohan took the number two spot, up from third place in September. Katy Perry fell off the list, as did Harry Potter.

The full top ten list for October were: WWE, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, Steve Jobs, Rihanna, Muammar Gaddafi, and Selena Gomez.

"In this month's Global Video Insights Report, the addition of Steve Jobs and Muammar Gaddafi demonstrates that mobile video is a barometer for current events," says Nickhil Jakatdar, co-founder and CEO of Vuclip. "Consumers use Vuclip to catch breaking news as it happens, consuming and sharing thousands of raw news clips."

Those interested can find full global search results on Vuclip.
