WeVideo Helps Document Occupy Wall Street at Social Change Summit

It's been a big week for WeVideo, the makers of a powerful collaborative online video editor. On Thursday it announced that it is integrating with YouTube. Now, as a follow up, WeVideo announced that it will be used during the Contact Summit, a social change conference taking place this week in New York City, to make a collaborative video about Occupy Wall Street.

Conference participants will shoot video at the Occupy Wall Street protest, then upload their clips to create a collaborative video with a variety of perspectives. WeVideo lets groups upload clips to a unique URL, then edit collaboratively from any browser on any device.

"We approached WeVideo for the event because of its unique collaborative video creation capabilities," says Venessa Miemis, executive director of the Contact Summit. "What WeVideo has created has a lot of potential.  It is part of the ‘next phase of the web' in terms of evolving from social media to participatory media, which is central to social change."

On Thursday, WeVideo announced that YouTube is adding an optimized version of the editor to its site, so that members can create polished videos with music, transitions, and more.

"WeVideo's integration to YouTube opens up the exciting world of video editing to millions of video story-tellers," says Jostein Svendsen, CEO of WeVideo. "This partnership gives YouTube users an intuitive cloud-based tool that is far more powerful than most desktop solutions."
