Wowza Streaming Engine 4.5 Adds Facebook Live Video Support
Wowza announced an upgrade to its Wowza Streaming Engine today that adds the ability to push video streams to Facebook Live. Formerly known as Wowza Media Server, Wowza Streaming Engine is server software for audio and video streaming. The one-click Facebook Live support lets brands easily connect with the current hot platform for video distribution. Wowza Streaming Cloud also supports Facebook Live.
Besides the Facebook live integration, version 4.5 offers other new options for live video delivery. Developers can write their own code in the Wowza API, the company notes, and automate live streaming workflows from within video apps. Developers can specify the CDN and any storage destination. Wowza Streaming Engine now supports Apple HSL (HTTP live streaming) for pushed live streams.
Wowza Streaming Engine also gains support for Simple Network Management Protocols (SNMP), making IT monitoring and operation easier.
“Some of the biggest brands in the world choose Wowza solutions for their streaming needs," says David Stubenvoll, CEO and co-founder of Wowza Media System. "Video sits at the epicenter of some of the decade’s hottest trends, from 360-degree video and virtual reality to live streaming and second-screen viewing. Our customers know that video infrastructure can make or break a company’s ability to capitalize on these trends, which is why they rely on Wowza to continuously shape the streaming landscape.”
