Xstream Creates Newspaper App for Samsung Smart TVs, Blu-rays
People across the world can now turn on their TVs and tune in the newspaper, thanks to an app created by Xstream, an end-to-end video management software company based in Denmark. Xstream's app for Jyllands-Posten, one of Denmark's largest newspapers, is the first app available worldwide on all Samsung devices.
The Xstream app puts every part of the newspaper online, including the news, stocks, business, and sports sections. Samsung owners can also stream all of the paper's videos through the app.
The app is powered by Xstream's online video platform, MediaMaker, which manages, encodes, protects, and streams the content. The Xstream system takes in feeds from the Jyllands-Posten content management system that include articles and metadata, then delivers that content to the app.
Xstream is focused on the start-to-finish development of smart TV apps. It handles usability, design, third-party integrations, streaming, and metadata.
"We are excited to play a role in the evolution of the media market, where newspapers are moving onto new devices, making their content available for their readers on their preferred platform," says Frank Thorup, CEO at Xstream. "We're humble being the first company in the world who have managed to develop a Samsung smart TV app that fits for all Samsung smart TV models and Blu-ray players."
