YouTube Gaming Gains Mobile Streaming, Fan Sponsorships

Twitch competitor YouTube Gaming debuted in late August, and YouTube is already improving the experience with requested features. Yesterday, the company announced via blog post that members can now stream their mobile game play from Android devices. On the updated YouTube Gaming app members tap the Go Live button, then use the front-facing camera to record audio commentary to their gaming and show their reactions. The graphic below illustrates the result.

Top gaming video creators will soon be able to look to their fans for support. YouTube Gaming is now beta testing sponsorships with a small group of creators. Sponsors donate money each month, and in return get perks such as unique live chat badges and access to exclusive chat sessions.

YouTube Gaming took the opportunity to list a few changes it's made already, including the ability to see when there are live streams for games in the viewer's collection, simple video bookmarking with the Watch Later feature, and remembered searches on the iOS app.

The updated YouTube Gaming app is available for iOS and Android.

Because YouTube loves to dazzle with stats, the blog post mentioned that viewers watch over 144 billion minutes of gaming videos each month on YouTube Gaming.
