chello broadband signs agreement with Edgix

Edgix (www.edgix.com) announced that chello broadband has signed a definitive agreement to deploy Edgix's edgeMedia managed network caching service to deliver Web content across its global network of cable head-ends in Europe and Latin America. chello broadband ( www.chello.com) currently operates over 500 cable head-ends deployed in nine countries on three continents worldwide. edgeMedia will help chello deliver content faster by deploying intelligent edge servers and other content management equipment in the ISP point of presence, cable-head end or DSL hub. This ensures that popular and relevant content is delivered from the access provider's edge nodes to users.

"We are delighted to sign one of the world's leading broadband services companies and see Edgix's portfolio of Edge Services, including edgeMedia, become an essential piece of chello's strategy to bring the power of broadband to any customer accessing the Internet over any device on chello's global broadband network," said Rangu Salgame, CEO of Edgix.

The Edgix-chello agreement is the result of an evaluation trial that began earlier this year when chello deployed edgeMedia in selected head-ends within its global access network.
