eBay Takes Bids Via Audio
Online auction site eBay announced the launch of its live auction site, which allows bids to be transmitted in real-time. Technology firm Tallan helped develop the site, www.ebayliveauctions.com, that allows registered eBay users to be part of auctions around the world.
According to Tallan, auction houses that have used its live technology have experienced a 20 percent increase in lots being sold to an Internet bidder, and a 30 percent increase in bidding activity. The company said selected auctions will utilize streaming audio.
"This project, linking live auctions throughout the world with virtual visitors is the kind of unique challenge that keeps our developers doing their best work," said Robert Hughes, president and COO of Tallan.
