eMotion and MediaSite Announce Partnership
eMotion (www.emotion.com), a provider of digital asset management solutions, and MediaSite (
www.mediasite.com), a provider of video indexing software, announced the release of a plug-in to integrate Motion MediaPartner 4.0 and MediaSite Publisher 4.1, scheduled to be available in January 2001.
eMotion's MediaPartner 4.0 offers archival and global retrieval for media files with a natural search engine. Their system manages workflow as well as the storage, retrieval and distribution of media files.
MediaSite released this week, the latest version of MediaSite Publisher 4.1. The software encodes multiple video formats and live feeds while automatically segmenting them with metadata derived from real-time speech recognition and video-text alignment capabilities.
Once the video is indexed, it can be fed into MediaPartner. eMotion and MediaSite have worked to integrate their products for specific clients, but this is the first official commercial offering of an integrated plug-in. eMotion also offers integration to a competing offering from Virage.
In related news, MediaSite is demonstrating their interest in global expansion through a series of announcements: a partnership with a Korean company, the formation of a joint-venture MediaSite subsidiary in Japan, and a new client relationship with Televisa, a Mexico-based producer and broadcaster of Spanish language television programming. The company also recently began offering Korean and Japanese language support in its Publisher product.
In November, Virage launched a new version of its competing product, VideoLogger 4.5 with support for Asian and Pacific languages.
