iCAST Shuts Down
In a suprise move this week, CMGI suddenly closed entertainment site iCAST.
The last event for iCAST was a webcast of magician, David Blaine. According to sources, sister CMGI company, Navisite, helped deliver the Blaine live webcast.
All that remains of iCAST's Web site, is a plain text message from iCAST CEO, Margaret Heffernan. It says the company is in "the process of winding down the business".
The message continues: "We sincerely thank our users and partners for their past support, and wehope you've enjoyed the interactive entertainment content and services wedelivered."
In November, CMGI announced it was exiting the "entertainment portal business" and would look to sell iCAST. But apparently, there were no takers.
Aside from the message from Heffernan, the site is completely empty.
At the time of the announcement, iCAST closed offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, letting go about 70 people.
