mDialog Offers Hyper-Targeted Ads for Online Video

At the IBC show in Amsterdam, mobile video advertising company mDialog today announced ad serving so granular it targets down to the specific user, thanks to the company's Smart Stream Platform.

The targeting works on video-on-demand or live content, and allows advertisers to direct advertisements to a tighter audience than geographic or zone-based targeting offers. Advertisers can use the platform to create a specific set of ads for each viewer. The platform can handle multiple simultaneous requests, allowing advertisers and content owners to reach only the audience they prefer.

mDialog's Smart Stream Platform is cloud-based and handles the entire video stream. The company says that it effectively turns multicast IP video into Unicast. The key is the platform's stream manager, which creates a custom stream manifest for each connected device.

Also at IBC, mDialog announced ad routing technology that lets broadcasters and other media companies bring their current system of showing both local and national advertising to online viewers. Using mDialog's Ad Router, companies can insert both national and local ad avails into a single break. The technology works on a variety of mobile and connected devices, including iPhones, iPads, Android devices, GoogleTV boxes, the AppleTV, Roku boxes, and the Xbox console. The idea is that companies can reach out to new audiences while still maintaining their current ad rules and carriage agreements.
