LiveU Intros LiveU Community, an Online Live Video Exchange
LiveU, a company known for its compact cellular-bonding live video transmission products, introduced LiveU Community today, an online exchange where broadcasters that want coverage of breaking news can link up with LiveU-using freelancers that are on the spot.
Once broadcasters and freelancers have made an agreement, the live video is uploaded to a LiveU server and streamed to the broadcaster's account, just as if the freelancer was on staff. If the exchange takes off, it will let news shows and sites tap into a global newsgathering community, getting live video from any location.
“Using our technology, we’re proud to have created an effective platform with hundreds of customers that serves as a bridge between broadcasters and the freelance video community," says Samuel Wasserman, LiveU’s CEO. "The LiveU Community platform is a real innovation in its field, opening a whole range of options for our customers to connect to one another and acquire valuable content when they need it."
Wasserman calls the platform a win-win for the industry, saying that broadcasters can get live video that would have been out of reach for logistic or financial reasons, while freelancers get access to news sites and shows around the globe. This is part of a long-term strategy to offer value-added services, he notes.
