Anvato Supports 360-Degree Video, Speeds Ingest and Playback

For publishers looking to hop on the 360-degree video bandwagon, TV Everywhere platform provider Anvato now provides support through its Media Content Platform (MCP). The company announced that customers can deliver a full virtual reality experience using an Anvato player, or they can syndicate 360-degree videos to their channels on sites that support playback, including YouTube and Facebook.

Promising VR without the wait, Anvato says its massively parallel video processing breaks down 360-degree video files into segments, rather than treating each video as a single large file. By doing so, the company is able to process files faster. Also, Anvato says its SDK lets 360-degree videos play without buffering. The adaptive bitrate streaming only optimizes the part of the video currently in the field of vision.

“MCP is the first end-to-end turnkey OTT platform that enables 360 video as part of the distribution architecture, without the need for separate workflows to process 360 content,” says Alper Turgut, Anvato's CEO. “Our mission is to make it easy for programmers to deliver OTT video, and to help them deliver the most advanced and exciting user experience possible across all platforms, including immersive 360 video.”

Anvato will show its 360-degree video workflow at NAB, at its booth on the upper level of South Hall.
