New Streaming Company VastVideo Debuts
VastVideo (http://www.vastvideo.com) made its debut last week, with plans to add video to partner sites this fall.
VastVideo says they want to supply a "private label" turnkey service for sites looking to add audio/video content. They essentially compile, digitize and index special interest videos into short video clips. For example, videos can be as mundane as "How to install a new shower head" or "Tips for tourists heading to China" says the company.
"While 'convergence' is a snappy buzzword we've all heard in this space, VastVideo believes in 'divergence.' The fact is that people still go to television for entertainment and to the Web for information," said Nathan Leight, VastVideo CEO. "User-selected video immediately creates a more compelling experience and will make any Web site a media asset while giving people what they're already seeking from the Internet."
Last week, Neil Braun joined VastVideo as President. Braun was previously president and CEO of iCast (http://www.icast.com), a CMGI company that launched earlier this year. Braun left iCAST abruptly in November 1999, leaving behind no explanation for his departure.
New York-based VastVideo was founded by Terrapin Partners.
