Columbia Records Launches Online Radio Station
Columbia Records (http://www.columbiarecords.com) launched an online radio station today. Its Columbia Radio Network and The Rock Network are the first promotional radio stations to be launched by a major record label.
The stations were launched using the technology at MongoMusic (http://www.mongomusic.com).
"The launch of the Columbia Radio Network and The Rock Network give us a great new tool for the online promotion and marketing of Sony Music artists," said Mark Ghuneim, Senior Vice President, Online & Emerging Technologies, Columbia Records. "With the help of MongoMusic, we have created two sites that we think will be exciting for the listener and Web surfer, with unique programming content unavailable elsewhere on the Internet."
The stations will stream 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using RealNetworks technology.
"From the beginning, MongoMusic has been committed to working with major labels such as Columbia Records, to provide them the most powerfully targeted promotional solution," stated Jeremy Hinman, MongoMusic founder and president. "With the launch of these two radio stations, Columbia Records continues their tradition as an innovator in providing their consumers the most exciting way to discover and access their artists. We're proud to be partnering with Columbia Records in providing this solution."
