Media1st.com and Enron Broadband Services Join Forces

Media1st.com and Enron Broadband Services announced today that they have formed a strategic alliance to jointly market and deliver broadband applications and streaming media content via the Enron Network to broadband service providers and enterprises.

Media1st.com is an internet broadcaster involved in the creation, hosting and distribution of video over the internet. The alliance combines Enron's broadband network with Media1st.com's video-enabled email service, virtual video portal, complete webcasting production and services capabilities, and content syndication model. Media1st.com provides services branded for their client's website.

"The real revenue generation for our company comes from creating, hosting and encoding the video," said Jeff Gardiner of Media1st.com. Media1st.com is positioned to benefit from the large size of Enron's sales team through this agreement.

The deal at this time is not exclusive on either end, and Media1st is not currently positioning themselves for a buyout, according to Gardiner though he did compare the deal to the relationship between Intervu and Akamai.

With the alliance between the two companies in place, Media1st and Enron can be more competitive with full service companies such as Loudeye and Evoke.
