Video Cell Phone Created by GEO Interactive Media Group and Samsung

GEO Interactive Media Group Ltd (www.emblaze.com) and Samsung Electronics ( www.samsung.com), showcased their video-enabled phone to journalists at the Olympics, and have announced that the streaming video cell phone, based on GEO's patented Emblaze A2 video ASIC chip, is scheduled to begin shipping soon to consumers in Asia and Europe, with United States market deliveries to follow.

According to GEO, the new cell phone allows users to view rich media content directly on their mobile phones by pressing the video function key and browsing through the list of available content, in a similar fashion to viewing television channels.

The Samsung Video Cell Phone is currently compatible with existing CDMA systems at speeds of 9.6kbps, 64kbps and CDMA2000 1X , which is capable of reaching a data transfer rate of up to 144kbps. The A2 ASIC chip is capable of sending video over GSM, CDMA, and TDMA on 2G, 2.5G and 3G Networks . As bandwidth increases, the user can enjoy a larger video size with a smoother image and better image quality.

GEO also recently showcased its technology at the unleashing of SingTel's GPRS service in Singapore. This particular demonstration showcased video messaging on the GPRS network at 24 kbps.
