MeasureCast Releases First Monthly Internet Radio Analysis

MeasureCast (www.measurecast.com) released its first monthly analysis of the Internet radio industry on Thursday. Its findings are based on the data gathered in its weekly rating of the top 10 Internet radio broadcasters in the United States (since expanded to the top 25), which it began in December. The stations included in the ratings are current MeasureCast clients.

MeasureCast, founded in 1999, provides third-party audience size and demographic information for webcasters. Along with measuring user audiences, MeasureCast collects demographic data based on a panel of streaming media users.

The report found that Talk radio was the leading format, followed by News/Talk and Contemporary Hit Radio/Top 40. The age range of listeners was spread fairly evenly from 18-44 years old, with 25-34 years old dominating at 26 percent.

Other interesting tidbits include: men, at 71.5 percent, listen to Internet radio more than woman at 28.5 percent; and California had more Internet radio listeners than any other state, followed by Texas, Florida, New York and Illinois.
