March Madness and Brazilian Streaming
Spring is on its way and for many Americans that can only mean one thing - March Madness. As any fan or friend of a fan can attest to, nothing comes between a basketball fan and the men's and women's college basketball tournaments. And if Yahoo! Sports has anything to do with it, some of those fans will be indulging their gluttony for even more info online.
Yahoo! Sports carries more than 500 professional and college audio streams of sporting events. With the tournament approaching, Yahoo! is ramping up its coverage to provide live audio game broadcasts, wireless updates, contests, real-time statistic tracking, and chat functions during the games.
"March is a great time for college sports — the basketball tournaments are without a doubt among the most anticipated and exciting sporting events of the year, and Yahoo! Sports is supplying all the essential coverage passionate fans require," said Tonya Antonucci, director of production, Yahoo! Sports, News and Weather, in a release.
And in other streaming sports news, a Brazilian portal for Portuguese and Spanish speakers, Sportsya.com, has added streaming coverage. Using the Windows Media Player, the site will offer 10 channels of sports coverage (soccer, volleyball, tennis, basketball, motor sports, etc.). The viewer is embedded in a Web page that offers the user full navigation options, allowing access to videos files, audios documents, texts and photos archives, at the same time. E-commerce opportunities related to the video are also available.
