Reliacast Partners with Quova to Geographically Limit Access
Reliacast (www.reliacast.com), an Internet infrastructure software company for audience management and the intelligent delivery of content, and Quova (
www.quova.com), a provider of Internet infrastructure intelligence services to e-businesses, announced that they have entered into a strategic alliance under which Reliacast will integrate its audience management software with the Quova GeoPoint geographic intelligence service.
According to Tom Klaff, CEO of Reliacast, Quova maintains a large and accurate database indicating the geographic location of network elements, such as routers, rather than only end-users. Klaff states that Quova has an automated system to insure that the information is consistently up to date.
Reliacast states that it will develop an integrated solution that will give content providers using the Reliacast Audience Management Solution software, real-time access to GeoPoint's geographic data. Quova states that GeoPoint can non-invasively determine the origin of a customer's Internet traffic by country, state, DMA (designated market area), metropolitan area, city and zip/postal code.
The companies hope that their combined offerings will allow big-name entertainment companies with geographically specific rights to certain content, to distribute via the Web."The real value from an entertainment perspective is containment," adds Klaff.
Klaff states that Reliacast is still determining the appropriate business model for offering its services, but adds that a subscription-based model may be a possibility for clients that require the service for a single webcast.
