Excite@Home Layoffs

Excite@Home announced that it would be laying off 13 percent of its workforce on Tuesday. Alison Bowman, a company spokesperson, indicated the cutbacks were due to a softening in the media market and the company's attempt to align its costs with revenue.

The announcement follows upon a recent warning that Excite@Home was anticipating less than expected revenue for 2001.

The layoffs will take place across the board, but will hit the media division, which includes its narrowband media divisions and marketing services, hardest.

This is the second round of layoffs for Excite@Home, which let go eight percent of its staff in January. This round will reportedly include 380 employees.
