Dish Intros TV Everywhere with Sling Receiver
Satellite TV service Dish Network introduced a TV Everywhere option, but only for subscribers using a Sling-enabled receiver. When subscribers download the Dish Remote Access application, they'll be able to view live and recorded shows on compatible smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
To use the service, subscribers need a Sling-enabled device, such as the Sling Adapter, which lists for $99. The Sling Adapter is a compact place-shifting device that pairs with Dish's ViP 722 or 722k HD DVRs. The Sling Adapter gets all the power it needs through a USB connection.
The Dish Remote Access app is a free download. When the app in installed, subscribers can view all their subscribed channels live, view recorded content on their DVR, manage recordings, delete shows, and use a mobile device as a remote control.
Compatible mobile devices include the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, 4.3-inch Android smartphones and tablets, and BlackBerry Bold 9700 and 9000 or Curve 8520 and 8900. The Apple app is available in the iTunes Store, the Android app is in the Android Marketplace, and the beta BlackBerry app is available in the TV Everywhere section of the Dish website. Subscribers can also access content on their Windows or Macintosh PC by logging in to Dish Remote Access from the Dish website.
