The Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC), a voluntary association of TV broadcasters intent on speeding mobile digital television development in the U.S., has chosen Neustar to provide the infrastructure for mobile devices. Neustar provides network, application, and enterprise communication services.

This announcement means that Neustar will help the OMVC with technology and expertise for connecting DTV service providers with mobile devices. Look for secure deployments to begin later this year.

The infrastructure provided by Neustar will issue and manage digital certificates, and also provide online systems for managing mobile DTV relationships, including registration, ordering, delivery, authentication, status checking, and revocation.

"With Neustar, we have a steady hand at the controls of what we believe will be a thriving digital mobile industry that will bring broadcast television content to millions of American consumers," says OMVC president Vince Sadusky, who is also the president and CEO of LIN Media.

This is a familiar area for Neustar, which developed and runs the UltraViolet digital rights lockers for the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem consortium.

"Neustar is delighted to have been selected through this competitive process to be the technology provider to the OMVC, and we look forward to working with the OMVC in the same innovative and partnering spirit with which we're building the UltraViolet digital rights locker and ecosystem with the DECE consortium," says Timothy Dodd, vice president and general manager of Neustar Media.
