The 411 on Application Acceleration and Dynamic Site Acceleration

"These types of services are the future of the CDN market," said Dan Rayburn, executive vice president of StreamingMedia.com, as he introduced a demonstration on application acceleration and dynamic site acceleration.

Noting that this wasn't a product showdown or a competition, Rayburn said that user interest determined which four companies - Akamai, Cotendo, Level 3, and Limelight Networks - were presenting: "These are the vendors that I get asked the most questions about."

"The purpose of putting four vendors up here is really to help inform and educate and empower people to understand what these services are, how they work, and how it overlays a traditional CDN network," Rayburn said.

"The purpose of this in my mind was not to try and compare one solution to another or say vendor A is better than vendor B, and it's certainly hard to do that when each vendor only has 15 minutes to present," he added.
