Unicorn Debuts OnceLive for Streaming Live Mobile Video and Ads

Enterprise video platform Unicorn Media is letting its customers go live. Today, it announced Unicorn OnceLive, a server-side technology for both delivering and generating revenue from live video. Customers can use OnceLive to remove the broadcast ads from live video, replace them with ads targeted on a per-user basis, and then stream the live video to any IP-enabled mobile or OTT device.

OnceLive works just like the company's OnceVOD service does, but for live video streams instead. Broadcasters can insert ads anywhere in the video stream and serve a variety of devices and platforms, including Apple iOS, Android, Blackberry, Roku, Boxee, TiVo, game consoles, and smart TVs. Both technologies integrate with a variety of third-party ad networks, as well as in-house solutions, Unicorn says. Additionally, both offer real-time analytics of both the video and ad performance.

"OnceLive is a game-changer for publishers and broadcasters, allowing them to capitalize on revenue opportunities with live content by enabling them to strip broadcast ads in real time and dynamically replace them with targeted ads on a per-user basis," says Bill Rinehart, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Unicorn. "With our patented technology, content owners can quickly and easily monetize live content for any screen."
