thePlatform Customers Gain Conviva Analytics

Thanks to a partnership between thePlatform, the online video publishing company owned by Comcast, and video optimization company Conviva, customers of thePlatform's MPX video publishing system now have the benefit of Conviva's Viewer Insights. Video analytics from Conviva will be available as a component within the MPX system at no additional cost.

MPX customers can use the Conviva analytics to view real-time information on viewer experience, viewer engagement, and playback quality across devices. The component includes reports on streaming quality, content trending, and video player performance. Conviva's specialty is showing how video quality impacts viewer engagement, and helping content owners overcome streaming problems before viewers get frustrated. Customers who need more detail can work with Conviva to access additional analytics through the component.

The news signals a deeper partnership between thePlatform and Conviva, however. The two will work together going forward on joint sales opportunities.

"Conviva adds a unique capability to thePlatform's video management system through the unparalleled business benefits our viewer-specific intelligence brings to content owners," said Darren Feher, CEO of Conviva. "The joint solution will allow thePlatform's customers to see exactly what every single viewer experiences, at the precise moment it happens -- providing actionable intelligence to enhance people's viewing experiences and ultimately improve online video for both viewers and publishers."
