Exhibiting at the Content and Communications World expo in New York City, broadcast and mobile video delivery company ViewCast announced the Niagara 9100-4D, a digital high-density encoder platform and the latest in the company's line of streaming media systems. ViewCast also announced the Osprey 845e Linux driver, which will be available soon.

The Niagara 9100-4D is built on the success of the 9100-2D, ViewCast says, and can handle four streams at the same time. The company boasts that this 1RU system with four HD SDI inputs has the most effective per channel price around.

ViewCast recommends the Niagara 9100-4D for enterprises looking for a multi channel stream corporate television solution. It could also find a home with over-the-top (OTT) service providers or broadcasters adding OTT delivery to their current offerings.

"By adding another innovative digital unit, ViewCast anticipates a huge success for the acclaimed Niagara 9100 line," says John Hammock, president and CEO of ViewCast.

The upcoming Linux driver for the Osprey 845e was created in partnership with KernalLabs. ViewCast isn't announcing when exactly it will be available, but that it will let Linux-based systems integrators capture video from up to four independent sources. Linux drivers for the Osprey 260e, 460e, and 820e are already available on KernelLabs' site.
